This post is all about August cocktails.
It’s late summer, which means it’s time to enjoy the most refreshing August cocktails which fully embrace the beautiful fruits (and herbs) of the late summer season. Peaches, watermelon, and blackberries (and more!) — let’s keep that fresh bounty coming all month long.
August Cocktails Inspired By In-Season Fruit
Peach Inspired Summer Cocktails
Fresh peaches and mint — such a refreshing combination and both are in season in the US in August. This would be a great recipe to batch for larger groups. Rum is the classic alcohol used in a mojito and also what this recipe calls for.
This peach lemonade spritzer is light, and like a classic spritzer, uses white wine. You cannot go wrong with a lovely summer spritzer — it’s a crowd pleaser and great as a day drink option. This summer August cocktail would pair nicely with the light fare in this summer entertaining menu.
Both basil and peaches are in season in August, so this drink equals all the freshness right here. This cocktail calls for gin.
Watermelon Inspired Summer Cocktails
This watermelon rosé fresca calls for elderflower liquor (one of my faves!) and brut (dry) rosé. What a beautifully fruity and floral combination! This one would be a hit at summer book club, if you’re hosting!
Margarita goodness with watermelon flair — love!
Classic G&T with a watermelon twist. A really fun option, especially for those who prefer a classic craft cocktail.
Blackberry Inspired Summer Cocktails
Let’s mix up these drinks with a little blackberry + bourbon! A darker liquor adds great depth to the blackberry notes.
Mint, gin, and blackberry brandy (along with fresh blackberries) compound the flavors in this summer sipper.
Blackberries replaces the cranberries in this creative spin on a cosmo. Another classic with a great, summery twist!
August Cocktails Inspired by Tropical Fruits
Beyond in-season fruit, tropical fruits are always a great consideration for August cocktails, as they bring all the summer vibes. I”m certain I don’t need to convince you on this one. Let’s consider a few, shall we?
Holy goodness – the “Pineapple Princess” is a beautifully crafted cocktail including: tequila, orange liquor, and Aperol!
Okay, yum. If you’ve never had Mezcal before (or have been hesitant to try), it has smokey flavor. All tequila is actually a type of mezcal, so, mezcal, at least in my opinion, tastes similar to tequila (+ smokey).
This is a super fun passionfruit (and pineapple) cocktail that sings summer (from a moving car with the windows down and the wind whipping through your hair) vibes!
I hope you’ve found some great inspiration to enjoy some late summer August cocktails, whether under a shaded tree or beach umbrella, or whipping up a few of these for your companions on vacation — have so much fun!
