One of my favorite things is to find great gourmet or artisan food at a local store, market, online, or in a new town!
Does anyone else center their travels around their food experiences? Not only do I get excited to try new items, I also love to share them with others while hosting, or as a a gift — whether as a hostess gift, or a gift for a special occasion. For this reason, I’m perpetually on the search for the best gifts for foodies!
Sometimes I put a little too much pressure on myself to find the absolute best gifts for foodies who mean a lot to me — I want them to be excited about their gift! — I then realize that a lovely gift doesn’t have to hit every single right note. It just has to be a little thoughtful, or novel, or fun. So, I hope to make the gift giving experience for the foodie in your life easy peasy, as I’ve gathered some of my favorite foodie gift ideas that I think are a special treat to receive!

Seasonings & Finishing Touches
Salt (But Make It Special)
Buy Now → Maldon Sea Salt is a kitchen staple (at least in my house). Those delicate flakes are such a joy! If you’re looking for something with truly gorgeous packaging, the Dalkin & Co. Flake Salt would make a lovely hostess gift — it’s so beautiful you wouldn’t mind leaving it out on your counter.
Buy Now → I love that Portland Salt Co.’s Toast Sugar Spice Blend combines vanilla sugar, cinnamon, and sea salt. This would be such a treat for breakfast. My mom used to give us toast with cinnamon sugar out of an antique shaker – so special! Pair this blend with great bread from a local artisan bakery and some fresh or high-quality butter and you’ve got a complete gift that anyone would be excited to receive!

Popcorn Seasoning by San Juan Island Sea Salt
Buy Now →The Popcorn Seasoning by San Juan Island Sea Salt is so fun! Consider pairing this with nice corn kernels. We have a farm near us that sells corn on the cob that you can pop in the microwave — it’s so delightful! This is the type of local food gift that would be really sweet paired with this delicious popcorn seasoning. Kernels in a nice jar or popped popcorn would also do the trick!
The Truffle Situation
Buy Now → If your food lover appreciates the earthy, luxurious flavor of truffles (yes please!), I’ve got just the thing. Black Truffle Butter, Black Truffle Slices, and Truffle Shuffle Truffle Salt are all excellent choices and offer a variety of options for use. Any of these would be perfect for someone who likes to add a touch of truffle goodness to scrambled eggs, pasta, risotto, or great bread!

Buy Now → Olive Oils Worth Celebrating

Brightland California Olive Oil Extra Virgin, The Duo
Buy Now →Last year I bought the Brightland California Olive Oil “The Duo” — two beautiful bottles of cold-pressed olive oil made with early-harvest olives — and gifted them as hostess gifts during the holiday season. I felt great about the nice packaging and high quality, and they worked beautifully! I really like to gift items as hostess gifts that are useful, while also a treat for the hostess with the mostess!

Heraclea – Aegean Flavors Gift Box
Buy Now →The Heraclea Aegean Flavors Gift Box includes four infused olive oils, which is such a thoughtful gift set. It gives the recipient options to explore different flavors.

Zahara Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Italy
Buy Now →I bought the Zahara Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Italy for my mother as a hostess gift for Thanksgiving last year. I loved the gift box and felt it was a great fit for the season. She was so happy! My mother hosted a cooking school out of our home my entire life, so food is her second language. When we (my sisters and I) gift her a food item she gets excited about, we feel like we’ve really hit the jackpot – this was a win for me!

La Tourangelle Regenerative Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Buy Now →La Tourangelle Regenerative Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil is another favorite — it’s sustainably produced and comes from cold-pressed, high-antioxidant olives. It feels good to give (and receive) something that’s both high quality and thoughtfully made. Also, the packaging is just so beautiful.
Sweet Treats That Deliver

Alfajores from The Icing House by Deliciosa
Buy Now →Alfajores from The Icing House by Deliciosa are a favorite in my house. They’re nostalgic for my husband, and honestly, they’re so delectable — moist and deep with flavor. These always make us feel extra special when they arrive — we know it’s a special occasion when that happens! This is one of those treats that may be new to your gift recipient, making it an exciting, fun find — aka one of those that earns its spot on the best gifts for foodies list!
Buy Now → If you’re shopping for someone who appreciates unique flavors, LAKRIDS BY BÜLOW Elderflower — chocolate covered gourmet licorice made in Copenhagen — is sooo fun, beautifully packaged, and a gourmet find (there are a variety of flavors and gorgeous colors to choose from). The Spring & Mulberry Date-Sweetened Chocolate 5-Bar Pack is perfect for anyone who prefers their chocolate in pretty wrapping in a variety of lovely flavors.

Buy Now →Harney and Sons Sachet Tins come in so many flavors in gorgeous, colorful tins. I’ve even used these tins on tablescapes and for decorating, based on the colors and the season. This would be an item you wouldn’t mind leaving out on your counter next to your tea kettle. It’s both functional and beautiful.

Buy Now →Wine Gifts That Feel Special
If it’s the holidays, the 12 Nights of Wine advent from Vinebox is so fun and exciting. (There’s also the option for a 24 nights box!) I would just be so happy if this arrived at my door as a special gift from someone who knows I love wine, and that I would appreciate treating myself to something new each night of the holiday season.
The California Dreamin’ Collection from Vinebox is another wonderful option, especially for anyone who loves exploring California wines.
A monthly wine subscription is a luxurious option that keeps on giving. Not only this, but your recipient will think of you (and be reminded of your thoughtfulness) each month when their new selection arrives and they’re jumping up and down at the door with delight!
For the Foodie Who Loves to Discover
A Bon Appetit magazine subscription or access to the NYT Cooking app provides endless inspiration. These are the gifts that get used regularly — the recipes bookmarked, the techniques tried, the meals shared. These presents become part of someone’s everyday life.
Kitchen Tools That Will Be Put To Good Use
A great meat thermometer is necessary for every cook, but not everyone thinks to have one on hand. I rely on mine all the time — it takes the guesswork out of cooking proteins to the perfect temp.

Buy Now → An oyster shucking kit paired with an oyster shucking class would be such a fun, experiential gift! It’s something to look forward to and a skill to learn together. If a class isn’t an option, a nice oyster book would work, or a gift card to a local fish monger.
