classic fall cocktails

It’s autumn! Don’t you just love how the fall ushers in crisp air, crackling fires, and the smell of charred wood floating on the breeze? Every time I get a whiff of a fire crackling outside, I am just filled with joy. There’s newness in wrapping ourselves in extra layers and the coziest of blankets, while enjoying the classics fall brings: colorful leaves, pumpkins galore, deep hued tones, and classic fall cocktails marking the season (including several fall tequila cocktails and fall bourbon cocktails!).

As we open our arms to this new season, let’s shake up some fall flavors (cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, anise, orange, pumpkin, to name a few) to compliment this gorgeous time of year!

Setting Up the Bar:

Classic Fall Cocktails

1. Vanilla Maple Margarita

This margarita recipe is batched to allow for sharing at a gathering, which is perfect in the fall. I love the idea of serving this at a fall book club! It’s essentially a classic margarita with the addition of maple syrup, cinnamon, and vanilla. Super easy!

2. Autumn Harvest Moscow Mule

Another great twist on a classic here! This Autumn Harvest Moscow Mule is a Moscow Mule with the addition of fresh apple cider and a lovely cinnamon sugar rim. Grab some local apple cider from the farmer’s market (is that where you get yours?) and you’re covered! You probably have the rest of these simple ingredients on hand.

3.  Spiced Pear Aper-Fall Spritz

Aperol, pear juice, cinnamon, and sparking white wine all become BFFs in this glass! This is a great way to bring in fall, as we transition from the classic Aperol Spritz to the Aper-fall spritz!

4. Harvest Apple Ginger Smash

We’ve got a lot of lovely depth in this Harvest Apple Ginger Smash, which calls for an apple spiced simple syrup (it’s got layers!), vodka, ginger liqueur, and apple cider. Love the addition of ginger liqueur!

5. Apple Cider Manhattan

Are you a Manhattan Drinker? I don’t believe I’ve ever had a classic Manhattan — I will add it to my list! This Apple Cider Manhattan is an autumnal twist on the iconic classic. The orange bitters paired with the rich cherry garnish alone get me excited to whip one of these up!

6. Pumpkin Pie Whiskey Sour

I’m so hype about this pumpkin pie whiskey sour! The Social Sipper just never disappoints. Whiskey, meyer lemon, pumpkin puree, brown sugar vanilla syrup (super simple recipe included), topped with a dash of pumpkin spice. Um, yes.

7. Maple & Thyme Whiskey Sour

This whiskey sour has a touch of maple syrup, garnished with thyme. It’s a slight twist on the classic whiskey sour, and a delicious one at that!

8. Spiced Maple Bourbon Fizz

This beautiful drink is made with a spiced maple syrup (hello cardamom, cinnamon, anise, orange) and combined with a maple fizz. Topped with champagne? It’s go time. (this recipe offers the option for an individual and batched cocktail)

9. Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini

This pumpkin spice espresso martini pairs pumpkin butter with a pretty classic espresso martini recipe. It’s easy, it’s delicious, it’s autumnal!

10. Cinnamon Apple Bourbon Smash

A spicy cinnamon syrup (spicy components: ginger & cayenne) is paired with bourbon, lemon or grapefruit juice, apple butter, ginger beer, and orange bitters. I want nothing more than this right now.

11. Smokey Apple Cider Paloma

I love a good Paloma, so I thought this one would be a fun twist! The smokey aspect (Mezcal, as well as the rim) adds a lot of great depth to this delicious cocktail. To rep autumn, we’ve got an addition of apple cider, cinnamon honey syrup, ginger beer. That’s a lot of fall goodness!

12. Spiced Pear Martini with Amaretto & Cardamom Bitters

Literally: say no more. The core ingredients are in the cocktail’s name and make for a balanced and sophisticated fall cocktail. The aromatics on this one!

13. Fireside Cranberry Cider Margarita

While this Fireside Cranberry Cider Margarita would be great anytime during the fall season, I would love it as a late fall drink — closer to Thanksgiving. With the cranberry juice, ginger beer, and gingered rim, that just feels right to me.

Did you find a classic fall cocktail (with a twist!) that you plan to make? Literally all of these look delicious and I’m excited to make them in various settings — while hosting a small gathering, enjoying time with my husband, and chatting with friends. Cheers to fall!

Thanks so much for being here!

Barware options if you’re in need of an update:

1. The Pineapple Princess

The Pineapple Princess is a playful riff on a margarita. Simply muddle pineapple and lime together, and add tequila, Aperol, and orange liqueur. Shake for 30 second and voila! A punchy, tropical (not too sweet), drink in your hand for outside enjoyment. If you don’t want to take the time to muddle the fruit, you can use bottled pineapple and lime juice to make this super duper simple. What a beautiful balance of flavors.

2. Passionfruit Martini

Just looking at this passionfruit martini makes gives me thoughts of Miami! The vanilla vodka & vanilla syrup rounds this out beautifully — and this is served with a shot of bubbly on the side. Mind blown. Also, fun!

3. Tropical Crush Cocktail

Let’s tropical crush it up, boo! I love all the fruit layers in this one — it’s a quintessential poolside summer sipper. So, whether you are actually by a pool, beach, or chillin at home, this will serve absolute summer vibesss with guava, coconut rum, coconut LaCroix, pineapple juice, and grapefruit juice. The grapefruit juice is definitely important here to help cut the sweetness of the other ingredients.

4. The Jungle Bird

We’ve got dark rum, we’ve got pineapple, we’ve got lime, we’ve got Campari — and simple (syrup, that is)! I can almost smell the fruity notes. I’d like this Jungle Bird in my hand please.

5. Rosé Spritzer

You know it, I know it — there has to be a rosé drink somewhere on this list. Is it even summer if there’s no rosé?! A spritzer is simple: it’s your alcohol of choice, plus a bubbly (often Prosecco), plus club. This one calls for rosé (obvs), blood orange soda, and club. Easy peasy! Garnish with sliced fruit if you have it!

6. Frozen Italian Paloma

Say no more. Just look at this beautiful play on a Paloma! I’ll take two, please!

Cocktails inspired by August’s garden:

12 Refreshing August Cocktails for Summer Sipping

7. Watermelon Lavender Daquiri

Watermelon in cocktail form is just a super fun proposal. Add some lavender, and we’ve got a cool vibey drink to offer guests, or keep to ourself! If you’re not a lavender or flowers-in-my-drink person, just leave it out!

8. Scallywag

Elderflower is a great early summer flavor (but also, amazing ALL OF THE TIME). If you make cocktails from time-to-time, you likely have all these ingredients on hand. Love that for you. Sounds like it’s a Scallywag kind of night!

9. Honey Apricot Basil Spritz

Going hard with the apricot and I’m here for it. The Honey Apricot Basil Spritz features this gorgeous stone fruit we don’t often think to eat fresh, as well as basil, which just *is* summer. Grab some honey from the local farmers market, and you’ve got a beautifully crafted summer drink!

10. Halekulani Cocktail

I do enjoy a fruity cocktail that includes grenadine. I’m not sure if it’s a bit of the childhood nostalgia, but it feels really playful to me. This recipe calls for demerara syrup, which is just simple syrup made with demerara sugar, rather than white sugar. It will give the drink a bit more depth, but simple will work just fine if that’s what you have.

Ummmmm… and how about one more *BONUS* cocktail!…

The Sgroppino!

I had to do it. Like, look at this beauty in a glass! Sgroppino is easy, it’s bright, it’s refreshing, it’s stunning in a simple sort of way… it’s summer in a glass. Friends — it’s a scoop of lemon sorbet, a shot of limoncello, and Prosecco. IT’S ESSENTIALLY AN ADULT PROSECCO FLOAT! Clearly it’s a yes from me. Also, I love the Duralex-like glass they use (on the website page) — I use these all the time for coffee, water, cocktails, per my faves!

Cheers to breezy Summertime Sipping!

Do any of these drinks stand out to you as one you want to try? The next time I host, I’m absolutely offering Sgroppino as a digestif. And, I DO have all the ingredients on hand for the Scallywag, so that’s coming my way tonight! I hope you are feeling inspired to break out your favorite glass and shaker, and enjoy some quiet time on the porch, or grab a friend and cheers to that wonderfully light feeling that only summer can bring. Salud to you!

The Absolute Best Family Soccer Trip Everyone Can Enjoy

This post contains affiliate links. If you click on them and make a purchase, I’ll earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. View the disclosure for more information. Thank you for your support!

This post is all about the best family soccer trip!

Pack your bags! I am so excited to share the itinerary from our Messi inspired family soccer trip through Florida, with the hopes that it will help you with your planning — or maybe it will spark an idea for your own custom trip!

We left from Orlando and our destination was Miami — to the Messi Experience — and we did a lot along the way (Chase Stadium, Messi murals, etc.).

Now, onto how to plan the absolute best family soccer trip — Messi edition!

lionel messi experience
Ready for the flight to Florida!

As you may already be aware, my son is a Messi fanatic. If you’re here, I’m guessing one of your children is as well? If you don’t know who Lionel Messi is, he’s an international fútbol (soccer) superstar, born in Argentina, and he plays for the MLS Inter Miami team, as well as the Argentinian National Team. He’s a humble man who boasts many great accomplishments.

We had recently planned a trip to visit family in the Orlando area. I figured while we were in Florida we might as well try to have some soccer adventures by incorporating Messi as much as possible. My husband loves Miami, my son loves Messi, and the whole family loves the Inter Miami team (even our littlest one!), so I got to googling!

I was pretty surprised when I couldn’t find any blog posts or guides for some sort of Messi tour given his popularity in Miami. So, as a result, I decided to do a ton of research and put as much together as I could within the time frame we had.

In this Post:

Best Family Soccer Trip Ever Itinerary: City Place

family soccer trip ideas for christmas

We knew, of course, that we would need to build in a few stops from Orlando to Miami, given that it’s about a four hour car ride, and we have two young kids. I put some thought into this so we could stop somewhere we’re interested in, rather than a random gas station. So, our first destination was City Place in West Palm Beach. If you’ve never been, City Place was a pretty cool experience, full of outdoor shopping and dining, as well as other experiences like a splash pad and pop up events. Also, it’s beautiful.

While we didn’t have time to do much given that we had to be back on the road, we did grab a bite to eat and stretched our legs.

There was also an employee there that started chanting “MEEEESSSSSI, MEEEESSSSSI, MEEEESSSSSI!” when he saw us all dressed up in our Messi gear. It was so sweet and my son was beaming ear-to-ear. It’s these fun, unexpected moments that make a special mark.

Best Family Soccer Trip Ever Itinerary: Chase Stadium

From West Palm Beach we had a quick trip to Chase Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale (about a 45 minute drive), which is the home of Inter Miami. I, too, was initially confused that the stadium was not in Miami. At the time I am writing this, there is a new stadium (Miami Freedom Park) being built outside of the Miami Airport for Inter Miami, projected to open in 2026.

This was a cool experience. We were able to walk around the outside of the stadium and also go to the Inter Miami store. There’s also a training facility a few yards from the stadium, though you’re not allowed to get super close to it. While we were there, we didn’t see any players training outside, but it was a fun prospect that my son may be able to see Messi on the field or walking through the stadium.

After we got our fill of the stadium, we jumped back in the car to head to Miami. While the two are not far apart, we did hit some traffic outside of Miami. It probably took a little over an hour to get from Chase Stadium to our first Miami destination.

Best Family Soccer Trip Ever Itinerary: Miami!

I had also done a lot of digging to see what we could do that is Messi related in Miami. There are some cool Messi murals around the city and it was our goal to find as many as we could! We hit the three we were hoping for, and while we did stop by a location (Veza Sur) for a fourth, it had been painted over. Wah wah. BUT — the others were super cool and it was like a fun scavenger hunt! This was an easy way to keep the kids engaged (“look out the window, it should be coming up!”), while exploring various neighborhoods in Miami, a city that’s so rich with culture.

This mural is located near NW 2nd Ave & NW 23rd St. There were other people stopping to take pictures too!

185 NW 25th St, Miami, FL 33127
best family soccer trip         This mural is at Fioritos, an Argentinian restaurant in Miami

I had also tried to find a restaurant that served authentic Argentinian food (we visited Fiorito’s the next day and it was closed when we arrived), but we ended up going with Peruvian (my husband’s favorite). That was just as fun and obviously also South American. The server said he saw us all walking by in our Messi jerseys (we walked past the restaurant on the lookout for a mural and then walked back to the restaurant) and he said the staff thought we might be Messi and his family. Ha! That was a cute anecdote and made my son very happy. I love these little moments!

The Messi Experience – so worth it!

Okay, so this was the whole purpose for the trip to Miami — to visit The Messi Experience in beautiful Coconut Grove. Honestly, I didn’t expect all that much from this event. I thought it would be interesting, similar to a museum exhibit, and figured the kids would be able to play a few soccer exercises/games, etc. That was what I could piece together from their website.

But, friends… this was such a cool experience. We had never been to something immersive and I won’t give it all away if you’re planning your own trip (it’s no longer available in Miami, but is available at various other locations, including NYC / NJ soon). What I will say is that the whole experience was quite captivating and immersive, and kept my son’s attention (and my toddler daughter’s!).

You get to follow Messi throughout his life and entire career. If you go, make sure you have a smart phone to make the most of your experience.

Afterwards, we stopped at the nearby Fresh Market (literally yards away) for a few items and saw this:

Ha! We didn’t try the wine, but found it funny that Inter Miami was everywhere! It made the trip that much more exciting – what will we find around every turn?!

Back to Orlando: Soccer Family Trip

While we are big Inter Miami fans given my son’s love of Messi, we have also become Orlando City fans because we have family who lives in Orlando. So, to wrap up the trip, we were able to go to an Orlando City game! Sheesh — my son’s soccer bucket couldn’t have been more full after this trip unless he met Messi himself!

Orlando City won, which made it even more worth it to sit in the rain!

More Ideas to Consider for Your Own Soccer Vacation

  • We had also looked for sports memorabilia stores which had jerseys, old and new alike. There had just been a cool pop up I had found on instagram prior to our stay, but it finished before we left. Consider looking into this option if you’re planning your own trip.
  • You could also consider heading to some trading card stores, if that’s not already a “go to” for you. Our son loves to find new and old cards and chat with the owners, or other patrons. It’s a cool community and we’ve found that the store owners of these privately owned shops are always so kind to the little kids.
  • When you have some downtime, consider watching a soccer special or documentary, like Messi Meets America on Apple TV or Captains of the World on Netflix. Grab some fun snacks and make it an experience.
  • Lastly, if you’re looking for another Messi-themed experience (or to bulk up a soccer trip), you could also just find an Adidas store or a soccer chain store. Messi has a partnership with Adidas, so his gear can always be found there and sometimes a large photo of him as well. Some larger retail soccer stores also have small pieces of turf that kids can play on.

Here was our bonus sighting:

family soccer trip ideas

Hahaha. When my son was really little we used to yell “FIRETRUCK!” every time we saw one. If you have kids, I bet you can relate. Now we yell, “MESSI!” I love getting to know my kids through every stage. <3

If you have any ideas to add to a soccer or Messi-themed trip, please share! You know we love recommendations here!

This post is all about chic soccer mom gifts!

soccer mom gifts

Soccer moms are the truly the best. They cheer on, show up, drive to and fro, coordinate, delegate — I mean, they are sideline superheroes! They go out of their way to ensure their athletes have everything they need (WHERE ARE THE SHIN GUARDS?!), cleats are untied (ughhh those double knots), snacks and sunscreen are packed, inhalers are taken 20 minutes prior to activity (anyone else?), including emotional support when the game doesn’t go as planned (the toughest part, in my opinion).

Let’s celebrate these beautiful humans with the chicest soccer mom gifts around!

So, I’ve spent some time trying to find chic soccer mom gifts that you would be excited to gift a (fellow?) soccer mom. We deserve nice things! If you’re marking the beginning or the end of the season with a fun gift, or know a mom who is the ultimate soccer cheerleader to their child, we’ve got you covered with these chic gifts for soccer moms.

At the end of the post, there are several great options that are less soccer “themed” for the soccer moms who appreciate their role, but like to mix it up.

Tasteful & Trendy Soccer Mom Gifts: Clothing Options

1. The Trendy Soccer Mom Tee

This cutie is right on trend and also on point! I’ve been fortunate to build some awesome friendships with other soccer families on the on the sidelines, connected by our children’s love of soccer, and our love of supporting them, watching them grow, succeed, and even fail. They have truly become soccer family.

2. The Trendy Soccer Mom Sweatshirt

For the sophisticated soccer mom who simply acknowledges their weekend plans have been made for them: Soccer Mom Club sweatshirt, Soccer. sweatshirt, Tres Bien sweatshirt.

Love the “Game Day” vibes for all the sports moms. There are a few color options for this one.

I bought this “Soccer Mom” sweatshirt a few years ago to wear as my Halloween costume when my son dressed up as Messi, and my husband a ref. It’s still one of my faves.

Sophisticated Soccer Mom Accessories

1. An After Party Gift

These soccer ball cocktail or mocktail cubes are great! If you’re hosting any soccer families after a game, how fun would it be to serve a drink in a lowball glass with these (or pair the ice cube molds with the glasses as a gift)?

2. A Colorful Scarf

For all the moms who need to pull their hair back on the sidelines, how about a sophisticated scarf? Stylish and sporty!

10 Tasteful + Quick Hostess Gift Ideas

3. Sambassoccer mom must haves

soccer mom must haves

We have become an Adidas Samba family since my son started his soccer obsession a few years ago. He and my husband are big fans, and my daughter and I got in on the trend too (see above pic – ha!). They are really so fun — there are a million color combos and a lot of them sell out quickly. This would be the ultimate soccer gift for a kid or an adult.

3. Soccer Themed Jewelry

Okay, these soccer earrings are just cute. Plain and simple.

This sweet soccer ball charm can hang from your keychain, an actual charm bracelet, or the tote bag you carry onto the pitch.

Another adorable charm option.

This Alex and Ani Team USA bangle bracelet is just, like, so sweet.

Some classy soccer ball love in the form of a necklace.

4. Water Tumbler

While I’m not a water tumbler person (I think they fall over too much?) and always just use a glass bottle to carry my water around, this one from Anthropologie is super cute, with two color options.

Stylish Soccer Gift Ideas: Hats

I love this Après Soccer red and white trucker hat from Talisman Sports!

This Home Team dad cap from McGee & Co. is super cute.

Say it like you mean it: soccer mom!

Soccer Mom Gifts for Moms Who Aren’t Into the Soccer Theme

If you’d like a few other options, or just don’t love the full-on soccer theme, here are a few more unique gifts for soccer moms that will be so, so useful:

1. A Lovely & Useful Tote / Bag

These waterproof canvas totes (striped and ric rac style) are really cute. I always appreciate a waterproof option given that soccer season can be a rainy season!

This portable barrel cooler bag is the perfect size to carry (we know arm real estate is at a minimum when trekking to and from the field) while also cute and affordable.

2. A Refreshing Beverage

That said, how about a lovely sideline beverage? As we know, I’m a big fan of these La Colombe Mocha Drafts and these Belvoir Farm sparkling lemonade options: rose and elderflower (my personal favorite) or this refreshing elderflower lemonade are both great choices on those sidelined sunny soccer afternoons. My perpetual struggle is not spilling any while I’m jumping up and down and cheering the players on. : )

I haven’t yet had these De La Calle! Tepache Mexican sodas, but I love how colorful they are — they would make for such a cheerful gift (inside the portable cooler bag) and fun to try the different flavors to find a favorite.

Soccer Mom Sun Protection

1. Straw Hats

As soccer moms, we are often in the blaring sun with no shade protection. This really affordable straw hat could be a great option (even wrapped around the cooler bag with drinks & ice packs inside) or this straw hat, which is more of a splurge:

2. A Great Picnic Blanket

Another option is a quality picnic blanket. I have used the living daylights out of my Anthropologie picnic blanket, but it’s no longer available. We have literally trucked this thing on and off the field five days a week, with my toddler and the other soccer siblings, as we call them, eating and playing all over it. Honestly, when I see it, it makes me happy. We have a lot of fond memories shared on this blanket. Here are a few other waterproof (trust me) options if you’re interested: large blanket in gingham in a variety of colors that rolls up, another slightly different style of gingham that also folds up, and lastly: a floral / boho / vintage option.

3. Luxury Sunscreen

This Tula protect + glow sunscreen, Supergoop Glow Screen sunscreen or a classic Kiehl’s Better Screen UV Serum. I mean, as a mom in the sun, a luxury sunscreen is a true treat.

Okay friends! I *think* we covered a lot of bases (wrong sport pun) for gift ideas with this post! Do you have any other awesome soccer mom gift ideas? If so, we’d love to hear them! I so enjoy absorbing everyone else’s suggestions – do share!

How to Host the Most Perfect Aperol Spritz Party

This post contains affiliate links. If you click on them and make a purchase, I’ll earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. View the disclosure for more information. Thank you for your support!

This post is all about hosting the most perfect Aperol Spritz Party!

It’s Aperol Spritz party time!

Aperol Spritz Party

bamboo cocktail stirrers   I   colorful napkins placed around the party

It’s so crazy how Aperol Spritz has become such a trend — even it’s own theme — over these last few years (at least here in the States). For a long time I thought I didn’t like Aperol (from the few sips I had from someone’s drink all I could taste was bittteerrrr). But, when I had an Aperol Spritz made properly, I was immediately all in. What has been your experience?

Now, as soon as the weather warms up I love a good spritz, so this year I decided to throw myself a fun girls’ night birthday party (milestone birthday for me!). I also knew that I wanted color, color, color, and to celebrate and enjoy good company, food, and drink.

Hence, the Aperol Spritz Party came to be.

In This Post:

Aperol Spritz Party: Planning Stages

I’ve shared in previous party planning posts that I enjoy hearing the brainstorming process when planning a party or an event. Mine is typically all over the place, but I usually can pull on a few main features that inspire the rest of my planning.

Here are some of my initial thoughts in planning my Aperol Spritz party, in case it’s helpful (or entertaining – ha!) to you:

  • When I plan my parties at home, my first thought is my dining room tablescape, as it’s pretty much the hub of our house for our parties, especially since the food typically is served from this table. I decided to once again use our dining room table as a serving area and wanted it to pop with color.
    • After feeling inspired by this picture on Pinterest, I decided to use that as a foundational piece to move my decor along — I LOVED the brightly colored tapers. I’ve never done something this vibrant before, so it felt perfect for a special birthday night. I already had a few of these bubble candle stick holders on hand and ended up purchasing more to really amp it up.
  • I’m really into the scallop borders that are on trend right now. While I’ve liked them prior to the trend (they serve whimsical English vibes to me), their popularity made it easy to find things with that border since it’s having a moment right now.
    • So, I bought this beautiful runner from Anthro — they had two shades and I went with the “pink”. It’s very pale, which was perfect, as it didn’t compete with all the color from the candles.
aperol spritz party theme flowers

  •  I also found this beautiful runner from Hester and Cook and wanted it to make an appearance. I decided to layer it underneath the fabric runner from Anthro, adding a layered effect. This is one of those choices that you hope will make sense and look “right” when you’re purchasing… and then are so grateful when the vision comes together in the end. And, it did!
aperol spritz themed party

Once I had the general idea of the table from here, I then decided on the cocktails I wanted to serve, as well as the menu.

Aperol Spritz Party Food: The Menu

When talking through my concept for the party with my husband (he’s a very good sport), I decided that I didn’t want to make any food for this party so I could enjoy myself and be present. This worked out well because as we all know, when hosting a party we still have things to tend to, like prepping, warming, and replenishing the food.

From there, I had decided on serving two spritzes at the party: Aperol Spritz & Limoncello Spritz, as well as rosé, white wine, and Prosecco (my faves). Once I realized that both the spritzes I chose were Italian, I decided to just lean into the theme and choose mostly Italian bites for the fare. This helped my brain narrow in much more quickly on the menu.

Here’s what I ended up with for the menu:

  • Meatballs and homemade sauce from a local Italian eatery warmed in an antique chafing dish
  • Two cheese and charcuterie boards made by a local artisan cheese shop
  • A beloved salad from a modern Italian restaurant
  • A variety of gorgeous paninis (cut into bite sized pieces) from a new, local Italian butcher shop
  • Truffle and shaved parmesan kettle chips (I threw these together quickly before the party)
  • Herbed olives
  • Mediterranean dips and pita from a local eatery (I love Mediterranean food so I couldn’t resist adding a bit to the menu)

Dessert:

  • Homemade pavlova (a childhood favorite of mine)
  • Mini cannolis
  • Colorful Italian cookies

Aperol Spritz Decorations

While I didn’t used any “themed” Aperol Spritz decorations, aside from this sweet printable from Etsy, I did decorate the potting table where I served the drinks. As I was putting the bar together, I noticed that it needed more layers, and a few touches of color. So, I added in the yellow and pink plates below the clear pitchers and added slices of oranges and lemons which could be used as garnish. I also added a little pink pot of fresh mint from my garden for a touch of green and also as a garnish to the limoncello spritz.

To help everyone decipher what glass is theirs throughout the night I made personalized wine charms. I also had a wine marker for those who had a stemless glass. I made the personalized wine charms to be silly, but was really grateful because it was easy to find my glass every time I put it down! I used this kit and these metal rings which both worked perfectly.

Using Canva I made these cute recipe cards regarding how to prepare a spritz. My plan was to make everyone’s first drink upon arrival, and then let them make their own as the night went on. The hope was that these sweet recipe cards offered guests the simple steps to whip up a spritz to their taste and then jump back in the party.

If you would like a copy of the PDF file of these directions, enter your email below and they will be sent to your inbox! Be sure to check your spam/junk folders if you don’t see them.

I also bought some fruits from our local market which I thought would be a nice complement to the colorful table. My original thought was to scatter them amongst the bases of the candlesticks, but then someone else gave me the idea to stack them on this sweet Wedgwood pedestal which was perfect!

One of the main elements of the table was this stunning floral centerpiece made by my friend’s company:

Isn’t it gorgeous? They used the photos I sent them of the candlesticks and tapers as a color guide. Receiving this stunning delivery to my home a few hours before the party was such a treat — it got me even more excited to celebrate and see the party come together!

Lastly, I added more spiral colorful tapers to my antique candlesticks on my sideboard to add more ambience and color. This added to the ambience with soft lighting and cheerful hues.

I did a bunch of digging (and ordering) and ultimately decided on this dress from Abercrombie in “vegetable print” for my big bday.

With the mix of colors, as well as the whimsical prints on the dress — I fell in love. To me it mirrored a bit of the Hester & Cook runner on the table, while beautifully tied together the rest of the theme. I lucked out that it fit so well! Aperol Spritz party outfit complete!

This dress from Farm Rio kept calling me name, but I didn’t have the opportunity to try it on in the store, so I decided to look elsewhere. It was also an investment for me, so I knew I would really have to love it and wear it many other times to make it worth the purchase.

It’s gorgeous, though, right?

Aperol Spritz Party Wrap-Up

This Aperol Spritz party for my milestone birthday was soooo much fun. It flew by so fast! No surprise here, but I forgot to put dessert out until the last few party-goers were heading out. Fortunately, they were great sports and stayed to enjoy it with me!

We had my mother’s homemade pavlova (my favorite), mini cannolis, and colorful Italian sprinkle cookies. This was a funny ending to the evening, as I ate the pavlova straight from the tray with a fork.

Grateful for this photo my friend got before we dove in!

For this party, I wanted to have a few games on hand to play. I don’t typically play games, so this was a new venture for me. We had Monikers, Cards Against Humanity, Guided Tarot Cards (this is boxed set with cards & manual), and Who’s Most Likely To. We ended up doing a round of Monikers which was hilarious, and then a round of Cards Against Humanity (also hilarious). Everyone joined in the games! What a beautiful, light hearted night with great company, food, and drink, which was my hope.

I was having so much fun and rushing around before the party that I really didn’t take many pictures. I’m grateful for my friends (and husband) who snapped a few while it was all happening so I have these memories!

Cheers to a beautiful year ahead full of celebrating life for us all!

Thanks so much for being here!

A Quick Guide to Two Popular White Wines: Sauvignon Blanc vs Pinot Grigio

This post offers a quick guide to Sauvignon Blanc vs Pinot Grigio!

sauvignon blanc vs pinot grigio

Do you consider yourself a white wine person? I must tell you — white wine allllways makes an appearance at my gatherings. Whether or not you identify as such, if you’ve ever stood in the wine aisle feeling a bit overwhelmed or just wishing for a bit more insight (we’ve all been there!), I think you’ll find this post helpful.

Let’s break down the difference between these two crowd-pleasers — Sauvignon Blanc vs Pinot Grigio — in an accessible way so you can make an informed decision about what to pour into your (and your guests’!) glass!

Understanding just a little bit about wine can go a long way. This quick guide is intended to help you feel more confident in choosing something you and your guests will enjoy without overwhelming you. This may serve as a quick refresher for you, or maybe it’s brand new info which you can build upon later if you so please.

Now, on to the good stuff!

Let’s Get to Know These Lovely Dry White Wines

Both Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio are refreshing white wines that work beautifully for entertaining while bringing something special to your gathering.

Sauvignon Blanc — bringing the vibrance!

Sauvignon Blanc is believed to have originated in France, but has since found homes in New Zealand, California, Chile, and South Africa. I truly enjoy Sauvignon Blanca from all of these regions with each one featuring its own nuance. You are very likely to see this lovely white from New Zealand’s Marlborough region often in stores and on menus. Sauvignon Blancs from this region have a really distinctive zingy personality we’ve come to love.

Notes you are likely to taste:

  • Bright citrus (think grapefruit and lime)
  • Green apple crispness
  • Tropical notes like passion fruit or guava
  • Fresh herbs and grassiness like lemongrass
  • A refreshing, zippy finish

Sauvignon Blanc is like that outgoing friend who brings great energy to every gathering – vibrant, expressive, and impossible to ignore!

Pinot Grigio — bringing the charm!

Pinot Grigio (in Italy) and Pinot Gris (in France), found its most famous expression in northern Italy. The same grape takes on a slightly different personality when grown in Alsace, France or Oregon – a little fun fact to share when you’re pouring!

Notes you are likely to taste:

  • Subtle pear and apple notes
  • Delicate lemon
  • Sometimes a touch of almond
  • Light floral hints
  • A clean, refreshing finish

If we’re likening Pinot Grigio to a friend, it’s your easygoing friend who effortlessly fits in anywhere – adaptable, pleasant, and universally liked!

10 Bright & Fresh Cocktails for Summer

How to Serve Each Wine

Entertaining with Sauvignon Blanc

While Sauvignon Blanc is one of my “go tos”, I find it to be a great fit for:

  • Spring & summer gatherings
  • Appetizer spreads featuring goat cheese, feta, or ricotta
  • Seafood meals and sushi (loved it with our Moules Frites menu!)
  • Salad-centered meals with vinaigrette dressings
  • Thai-inspired dinner parties (it’s a beautiful pairing with those bold flavors)

Serving tip: Serve Sauvignon Blanc nice and cold (but not too cold so you can taste the notes!), around 45-50°F. A pretty wine bucket filled with ice makes both a functional and decorative addition to your tablescape!

pinot grigio vs sauvignon blanc

Entertaining with Pinot Grigio

Pinot Grigio is a lovely pairing as:

  • Welcome drinks when guests first arrive given it’s approachability
  • Light pasta nights with neighbors or friends
  • Afternoon garden parties
  • Seafood risotto dinners
  • Cheese and charcuterie boards with mild cheeses

Serving tip: While Pinot Grigio should be served chilled, it shows its best at around 45-55°F – just slightly less cold than your refrigerator temperature. Taking it out about 10 minutes before serving is perfect!

Seasonal + Simple Prosecco Cocktails

Sauvignon Blanc vs Pinot Grigio: How to Choose for Your Gathering

I’ve developed a little mental checklist to help me decide between Sauvignon Blanc vs Pinot Grigio when hosting a get together. If I want to be intentional about the experience and/or the pairing, I take note of the following:

Sauvignon Blanc is a great fit when:

  • Your menu features herbs, citrus, or vibrant flavors
  • You want a conversation-starting wine with distinctive character
  • The gathering is energetic and lively
  • You’re serving dishes with some acidity (like tomato-based plates)
  • Your guests enjoy trying bold, expressive wines

Pinot Grigio is a great fit when:

  • You need a crowd-pleasing option that most everyone will enjoy – this light wine is agreeable for just about anyone
  • Your menu features delicate flavors which you don’t want to overwhelm
  • You’re looking for versatility with various dishes
  • The occasion is relaxed and easy-going
  • You’re not sure about everyone’s wine preferences

Adding a Personal Touch

If you are looking for an easy conversation piece, consider creating a simple wine card for the table. You can write the name of the wine with 2-3 tasting notes for each, place it next to its corresponding bottle. This adds a lovely touch and gives guests something to chat about, whether they know a lot or a little about wine.

The Perfect Pairings for Sauvignon Blanc vs Pinot Grigio

Fortunately, food and wine pairings doesn’t have to be complicated or complex. Here are some go-to combinations to consider for your next gathering:

Sauvignon Blanc Pairings:

  • Herb-roasted chicken with lemon
  • Goat cheese crostini with honey and thyme
  • Summer salads with citrus vinaigrette
  • Grilled fish tacos with avocado crema
  • Asparagus risotto (Sauvignon Blanc is one of the few wines that works with asparagus!)

Pinot Grigio Pairings:

  • Caprese skewers with basil and balsamic glaze
  • Creamy garlic shrimp pasta
  • Margherita flatbreads (fun, easy, customizable)
  • Light vegetable quiche
  • Simple grilled chicken with garden herbs

A Little Wine Wisdom for Your Next Gathering

Truly, the best wine is always the one you enjoy! These guidelines are just starting points – your personal preference is what matters most. I’ve found that having both a Sauvignon Blanc and a Pinot Grigio on hand for gatherings ensures everyone finds a dry white they will enjoy.

Do you have a preference between Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio? Or perhaps you appreciate both depending on the occasion? Do share!

Cin cin!

This post is all about hosting a soccer themed birthday!

It’s soccer birthday time!

We’ve got a whole host of ideas to get the party going, as well as a free “Who Knows the Birthday Kid” best game!

If your child is anything like my son, they are soccer obsessed! Anyone who knows my now-9-year-old associates him with all things soccer and Lionel Messi (he received an 800 page Messi memoir as a gift!). For that reason, he wanted a soccer themed birthday party this year. I’m sharing all the details in hopes that they are helpful to you in your planning! Let’s gooooooo!

Soccer Themed Birthday Planning

Our first step in the process was deciding where to host the party. My son has had parties out of the home the last few years, so we decided we wanted something more low key and affordable than spending hundreds of dollars on a venue, and then more on food, decor, etc. For this reason, we decided to host at home (and ended up with 10 boys at the house!).

I’m not sure about you, but I really enjoy when others share their thought process / brainstorming that goes into party planning, so I thought I would offer the same here for you in case you also find it helpful.

Brainstorming for the soccer party:

  • I wanted to use a lot of what we have for the decor. I have found that over the years I’ll purchase decor items and then they sit around in hopes that I’ll use them again (Minecraft, farming, Nerf…). This year I took the time to comb through my son’s soccer themed bedroom for decor items the weeks prior to his birthday and stored them all together in one place. This made it really easy for me to access them the weekend of the party. In years prior, especially since I have small children, it often felt easier to buy decorations for every party so I didn’t have to go digging around. This year I challenged myself to think about this differently.
soccer party favors

  • I eased up on the pressure I put on myself to make the party look a specific way. This is always a challenge for me (maybe you too?), but I’ve gotten exponentially better over the years. I remind myself of several things: this party is for a 9 year old boy and his friends — they could care less what it looks like. They just want to bounce around the house and have a blast together. While I want the party to feel special to my son, my idea of special vs. his idea of special are different.

Now, on to the party itself!

Initially, this one felt a little tricky as my husband and I were thinking through potential activities for the kids…

My son’s birthday is in the wintertime ❄️ and we also have a very small yard, so we couldn’t have the boys play soccer for most of the party.

While we initially planned for the boys to play soccer for part of the party (my son will play soccer in the snow, rain, or sleet — you name it), there was a huge sheet of thick ice over our patio and yard from a previous storm. This particular year my son also had an indoor soccer game the day of his party, so we held a late afternoon event.

Messi tapestry   I   mini Argentina flags

Here are the activity options we came up with for the party, knowing the kids may get bored with some quicker than others, or that they may not get through them all:
  1. OUTSIDE SOCCER complete with goals, a glow soccer ball, pinnies, lights, and Daddy as ref.
  2. GUESS THE TEAM LOGO: super easy. The boys separated into teams and guessed the logo via a YouTube clip that my son had found. The clip featured the logo of a team on the screen with a countdown timer and that was that! Winners won a a little package of trading cards, these cute soccer candies, and soccer stickers.
  3. GUESS THE FLAG: We didn’t get to this one, but it would have been fun. We have the The World Game after friends introduced us to it and we had a blast with it. Our plan was to either find a YouTube clip in the same vein as the one above, but with flags from various countries, or just using the flag via cards on The World Game.
  4. WHO KNOWS THE BIRTHDAY BOY BEST: This game was super cute and made my son feel very special. We came up with a bunch of questions about my son and I created a handout via Canva. We made some questions pretty easy and others a bit harder. I had my son answer the questions ahead of time and then his friends answered them at the party once dinner was winding down. It was really cute to hear everyone’s answers and see who truly did know him best. The boys were hilarious with some of their guesses and the kiddos were all such good sports — they had more fun than I expected with this one!
If you would like your own PDF copy (gender neutral) for your child’s birthday, or simply to take the thinking out of creating the questions, enter your email address below and it will be sent straight to your inbox (be sure to check the spam/trash folder if you don’t see it).
  1. TRADING CARD STATION: Fun and easy! The cool thing about this one is that you could get really creative if you were up for it. I had saved some large boxes leading up to the party, as I was planning to make a booth with a fun sign. It didn’t end up happening, so I just laid the boxes on the ground like a table, threw this soccer table cloth over it and we were good to go!
  2. FIFA SOCCER VIDEO GAMES: An easy option that requires no explanation!
  3. FOOSBALL: We have a small foosball game that we setup on the table after dinner. This worked really well for the kids who didn’t want to play video games, were waiting for a turn, or just wanted to switch things up.
  4. MLS GAME: There was a Major League Soccer game on TV during the latter part of the evening. We kept this in mind in case we wanted to switch over to this, especially because the team was one of my son’s favorites. Another option would be to put on a clip of the “Best Soccer Highlights” or something of the sort based on your child’s interests.
  5. COLORED LIGHTS AND CUSTOM PLAYLIST: We installed these lights (they were super easy and are changed via an app) after being inspired by them at our friend’s house. We planned to turn them on to rotating colors during the later half of the party and had my son’s custom soccer playlist ready to go to give this the party vibe.
    • UPDATE: It’s now a year later and they’re still installed. We changed them to cheer for specific football teams during the games, as well as pink for Inter Miami, of course!
  6. TATTOOS & STICKERS ON THE TABLE: simply throw bulk soccer stickers and tattoos on the dinner table for another thing for the kids to do.

Soccer Themed Birthday Invitations

We kicked off the birthday with a soccer themed birthday invitation, of course. Here are a few options if you’re looking to do the same:

While I love (and have in the all previous years) handing out paper invitations, it has become a challenge because my son is not allowed to hand them out in class anymore (unless the entire class is invited). So, this year we just went with a digital version which I texted to parents, which is the norm around here. Is it the same for you? While I miss paper invites, I can appreciate this new style of invite.

Soccer Party Favors

Fortunately, this one ended up being very easy. My son is very into trading cards right now (there’s been a boom since COVID apparently), so we bought packs for each child: they each received soccer, football, and Pokémon cards. This worked out nicely because those who didn’t have a ton of cards got to use those to trade during the party. Since one of the soccer themed activities was “trading cards”, this made the favor more dynamic. Plus, the kids love to see what they “pull” in their packs.

soccer theme

soccer party ideas

We went to a local sports store which sells these trading cards. If you don’t have a local store, you can certainly by them online. My husband also made a trip to a flea market which has Pokémon cards in bulk which are very reasonably priced. We broke those down into packs and handed out the extras to the game winners.

This was an affordable way to incorporate Pokémon, which I had initially nixed given that we were already giving several other packs as favors. But, it was a hit and the extra cards really came in handy when there ended up being a bunch of winners for the team games and I didn’t plan for enough favors — whoops! I quickly threw together extra packs of Pokémon cards and we were good to go!

I decided to add a little more interest to the table by using a green paper plate underneath the soccer plate. Coupled with the seagrass chargers I had on hand, both broke up the soccer ball patterns from the tablecloth and the soccer plate.

Here’s another great soccer plate option from My Mind’s Eye which boasts a bit of a different style with a scalloped edge.

I highly recommend scouring a home goods store for various paper goods and party decorations. I do this in the weeks leading up to a birthday because they typically have great finds which are obviously reasonably priced. It’s also just so nice to hold things in your hand and visualize the item on the table or in the room. That’s how I found the fun “Let’s Go!” pennants — it was superbowl time and I was able to utilize them the party!

ANOTHER FUN SOCCER MOM POST:

Wrapping up our soccer themed birthday party extravaganza…

We made one room really soccer heavy (our dining room) with the items we shared here. I added green balloons and soccer balloons (which we had on hand) because I think balloons really make a party feel like a party — for kids and adults alike! If you incorporate balloons, be sure to add 2-3 outside the door to your home. This gets the birthday child excited, as well as the guests!

Okay, now it’s your turn! Have a wonderful time planning your child’s soccer themed birthday party and be sure to share any other fun or helpful tips and ideas if you’re open to doing so. We’d love to hear from you!

Thank you for being here!

Introducing Bright, Summertime Fresh Cocktails

During a beautiful summer day there’s nothing quite like a fresh cocktail on the porch or in the garden. I don’t know about you, but given the season I want to feel like I’m drinking summer from a glass – give me watermelon, give me tropical, give me a fun margarita! Fortunately, our curated list of 10 fresh cocktails features these bright flavors, offering a fun spin on the classics.

Cheers to summer sipping!

Fresh Cocktails Perfect for the Summer Season

1. Tropical Strawberry Hibiscus Rum Smash

Yum yum, gimme some! This Tropical Strawberry Hibiscus Rum Smash features dried hibiscus flowers, fresh mint, and tropical fruits. I love when a fresh cocktail is packed with ingredients of the season — I find it both grounding and celebratory to be anchored in the “now” in this way.

2. The Colada Sunrise Recipe

The Colada Sunrise is a twist on a classic piña colada, with the addition of mango and grenadine. Doesn’t it look stunning in the glass?! If you’re in the mood for something tropical, this is it.

3. Watermelon Lime Gin & Tonic

Carolina Galen has the best recipes. This watermelon lime gin and tonic cocktail combines fresh watermelon and lime with fragrant mint (maybe straight from your garden or a pot in your kitchen?) – it’s a beautifully balanced drink with a tajín rim that’s both fresh and bright. What’s more, the ingredients are easily found during peak summer months.

Seasonal + Simple Prosecco Cocktails

4. Peach Paloma

I love a good paloma. They are easy and classic, and we often make them with mezcal in our house. This peach paloma is super duper simple. Simply take the traditional paloma ingredients (grapefruit juice, tequila, and lime juice), give them a stir or a shake, and top with a natural peach soda.

If you have ripe peaches on hand, you could certainly garnish this beautiful fresh cocktail with them, or give them a squeeze to drain the peach nectar. The nectar would be beautiful with a little tequila, topped with club or peach soda.

5. Aperol Coconut Margarita

I did say I love a fun margarita! Also, Aperol. While it took me a while to accept that I love an Aperol Spritz, I’m all in now (Aperol Spritz birthday party anyone?). And while I’m not a huuugeee coconut fan (are you?), I do enjoy it in the summertime and love that it’s in the form of coconut milk in this fresh summer cocktail, which adds a touch of creaminess. This Aperol Coconut Margarita makes me feel like I’m basking in sunshine while planning a trip abroad.

6. Creamsicle Prosecco Floats

Oh goodness. Are creamsicles nostalgic for you? While creamsicles may ring some childhood notes for some of us, for others they may simply be a beautiful, creamy, way to refresh. These Creamsicle Prosecco Floats are crazy easy — one scoop of vanilla ice cream, one scoop of orange sherbet, top with Prosecco and garnish. I love a drink that feels special, but is not at all overwhelming when it comes to the recipe.

7. Spicy Pineapple Coconut Cocktail

This Spicy Pineapple Coconut Cocktail gets its heat from ginger, which is such a nice balance to the pineapple. If you’re not a ginger fan, you could skip it and instead, muddle some mint in the glass to add some layers of flavor. Alternatively, if you want heat, but don’t want ginger, you could also muddle jalapeño in the shaker and strain it out when pouring into your glass. If you don’t like too much heat, just start with a little bit and avoid the seeds.

8. Pineapple Mango Rum Punch

I love cocktails that can be batched for a get together. This Pineapple Mango Rum Punch is clearly just beautiful, combining pineapple, coconut, mango, orange flavors with grenadine. If you are not a fan of a punch that’s on the sweeter side, this would be lovely with the addition of lime juice (the tartness will cut the sweetness of the juices) and topped with club soda.

9. Passionfruit & Elderflower “Wildest Dreams” Martini

This floral and fruity martini can be made with gin or vodka (based on your preference), and Baked By Claire includes many variations — one of which you’re bound to love if you’re a passionfruit and elderflower fan. My husband grew up with passionfruit so a passionfruit drink or dessert always catches my eye. With it’s bright, complex flavor profile, boasting both tartness and sweetness, it’s a well rounded flavor for a fresh summer cocktail.

Grab your favorite coupe glass and your cocktail shaker. As my kids would say, “LET’S GOOO!”

10. Pink Dragonfruit Pineapple Rum Fizz

This gorgeously hued pink cocktail in a highball glass is as easy as it is stunning (and can be batched). Simply combine pineapple juice, dragonfuit powder, and rum, and top with soda water (or club if that’s what you have on hand).

Did you find a fresh cocktail perfect for you during these summer months?

If you try one of these recipes or have your own favorite for fresh cocktails during the warm weather months, please share!

Whether boasting flavors native to you or simply a refreshing cocktail you enjoy, we would love to hear it. Cheers!

10 Enchanting Garden Party Drinks

This post is all about garden party drinks!

garden party drinks

There’s something so magical about gathering friends and family for a garden party. The flowers are blooming, the weather is inviting, and we’re ready to celebrate! As we know, the right drink, or garden cocktail, can transform any experience. So, let’s elevate the atmosphere into an enchanting social occasion with fresh flavors and beautiful, yet simple, presentation!

And, at Peony Lane & Co. we like options, so we’ve included both hand shaken cocktails and punches to fit your needs:

Elevated Garden Party Drinks (by the glass)

1. Garden Party Cocktail

This Garden Party Cocktail (aptly named) by Love Happy Hour is loaded with warm weather flavors. It features Empress Gin which is a beautiful shade of indigo, as well as violette liquor (which is easier to find than it may seem), and even rose water. This does need to be hand shaken, as it uses egg white (sub aquafaba if you’re not a fan) so that’s something to consider depending on the size of your party.

2. Lemon Herb Spring Garden Margarita

If you are looking for a unique, elevated garden party drink, this is it. At first glance, the ingredient list for this speciality margarita may seem a teensy bit intimidating and while this recipe may require a few more steps than a few of the others, the steps themselves are not hard, and the ingredients are all very easily sourced. Fun fact – this recipe could also be batched to make your life easier. I think OhCarlene knocked it out of the part with this one!

3. Lavender Rose Fizz Cocktail

This Lavender Rose Fizz Cocktail features layers of flavor from the garden — we’ve got an interplay of lavender, rose, and rosemary — just gorgeous! Egg white creates a beautiful layer of foam, which you could always sub with aquafaba if that’s your preference.

4. Limoncello Martini

This limoncello martini is so bright with a *touch* of floral from the elderflower liqueur. And, in classic martini form, this drink is nearly all alcohol, so just be mindful as limoncello is sooo easy to sip. Sunshine in a stemmed glass right here! (Batch this one for a larger gathering if you’d like and you could always add club soda to taste.)

5. Spring Fling Cocktail

Boasting a gorgeous spring green shade, this spring fling cocktail includes fresh cucumber & basil, chartreuse liqueur, gin, and a few other accessible ingredients. Could you imagine a cheerful garden party with this delicious drink in hand? Stunning.

6. Tomato Spritz

Fresh, ripe tomatoes in a cocktail? Ummm… it’s a yes for me and I’m not even a big tomato person. In this tomato spritz cocktail recipe, tomatoes are muddled and joined by fresh basil, Lillet, St. Germain, sparkling wine, and a few drops of olive oil (optional). I love how creative this is — garden party guests will be so intrigued! Also, isn’t this such a creative way to use up that bounty of tomatoes during the summertime?!

Enchanting Garden Party Drinks: Punches/Batched

7. Elderflower Gin Punch

This punch from The English Home is pretty ding dang simple. It features gin, elderflower syrup, lemon juice, optional Angostura orange bitters, and a sparkling white wine topper. Easy garnish suggestions are also included to up the beautiful ante  — we’ve got ourselves a winner here!

8. Lavender Gin Lemonade

Super duper simple. This recipe is literally in keeping with its name — it calls for gin, lavender syrup, lemon juice, & club soda. While Another Cocktail Blog does have a recipe, I would recommend batching this (to taste) and topping with club soda so guests can pour their own. You could certainly sub vodka for gin, and leave out the lavender if that’s not your favorite flavor — you could just garnish with it. The choice is yours!

9. Sparkling Mediterranean Rosé Punch

Sparkling Mediterranean Rosé Punch is the bright garden party punch you need in your life! Featuring Aperol, vermouth, grapefruit juice, and rosé, this is so vibrant and cheerful. I’m a sucker for a rosé cocktail or punch, especially in the warmer weather months and this one transports you in the best possible way.

10. Summertime Rosé Tequila Sangria

Summertime Rosé Tequila Sangria feels so on point for a garden party cocktail to me. Sangria – check. Rosé – check. Tequila? Check. Add some ripe fresh produce and basil, lime juice, sparkling water, and agave or simple syrup and you’re good to go!

Simple Tips To Elevate Garden Party Drinks

  1. Grab some edible flowers or herbs and freeze them in ice cubes — regular or cocktail sized cubes. You can either use these ice cubes in a cocktail, or in a decorative container to keep wine chilled. Simple, yet adds a special touch. Even though this is obviously a super simple process, A Classic Twist has a great blog outlining this if it’s helpful to you:
  2. Place a small pot of herbs next to your drink station (if you have one), along with simple cloth or paper napkins. This adds an extra touch of “garden”, color, and olfactory pleasure!
  3. If your garden themed occasion is a bit more casual, considering having a wine charm or marker available to denote which glass belongs to whom.
  4. Clear glassware is so beautiful for events such as this, given that there’s often a lot of color already through the tablecloth, napkins, flowers, and other decor. But, feel free to add even more color with a beautifully hued wine or cocktail glass. You truly cannot go wrong with either. Vintage mismatched picks from a thrift store would also be beautiful given the garden party theme.
  5. If you’re using something other than a fridge to chill your wine, get creative. I’ve used enamel bowls, traditional wine buckets, and brass containers such as this one which I used to chill wine for our Garden Party Birthday: garden party drink
  6. Add butterfly pea powder to water and freeze to use as cocktail cubes. This will create a beautiful change of color in your guest’s drink as they sip.

From hand crafted garden party drinks to batched creations, we hope this list has inspired your menu for your next garden party! The great thing about a punch or a cocktail is the ability to swap ingredients and flavors based on your preference and what you have on hand. Allow yourself to get creative and taste test your favorites. Above all, make it a point to enjoy your guests’ company, great food + drink, and your outdoor space!
